All About forms.com

24 January 2002. This site boasts a collection of over 5,000 legal forms -- about 2,000 of which are available for free to registered users. Coverage includes affidavits, applications, bankruptcy, business, corporation, divorce, leases, partnership, rent, statements, trademark, and trusts. Also find practical plain English articles from Nolo.com and a forms search feature.

AutoTrackXP

22 December 1999. DBT Online, Inc. offers Web access to its database of public records, which include bankruptcy data. A commercial database, AutoTrackXP provides one of the least expensive avenues to quality public data.

Bankruptcy Bulletin

16 October 2001. Revised 5 November 2001. The law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP offers a monthly newsletter covering developments in bankruptcy law. Find individual articles available in HTML format, or display the entire newsletter in PDF. The site maintains an archive back to December 1997.

Created and maintained by the Law Offices of Warren E. Agin, this resource offers bankruptcy cases, statutes and regulations, secondary resources, and more.

Bankruptcy Sales

8 February 2002. Revised 5 November 2004. The American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) and the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees (NABT) offer a database of information about asset sales from bankruptcy estates by bankruptcy trustees, debtors in possession, or others having the authority to sell such assets by the appropriate U.S. Bankruptcy Court. You can search by category (e.g., equipment, residential real estate, boats, etc.), location, keyword or expiration period. You cannot, however, combine these criteria. Information provided includes a description of the asset, sale date, terms and conditions, location, trustee contact information, bankruptcy case name and number, and date asset listing expires.

Bankruptcy Search

23 March 2004. BankruptcyData.com offers a database of information about major bankruptcies, which covers 1986 to present. Browse the database by company name, or search it by company name, assets, industry or date. The information provided for free includes company name, industry, coverage start date. For a fee, you can purchase related news stories, a company synopsis report, a report containing the largest claims and the bankruptcy petition.

8 February 2002. Revised 5 November 2004. Find a free bankruptcy search utility for finding select bankruptcies since 1986 that involve companies. Free information provided includes the name of the company, a brief description of its business type and the date coverage of the bankruptcy started. Paid subscribers can obtain news stories about the bankruptcy, a company profile, plan summary report, creditor's committees report, largest claims report and the bankruptcy filing. Other information at the site includes a bankruptcy court directory, a glossary of bankruptcy terms, a U.S. trustee directory, news headlines pertaining to bankruptcy issues, a weekly newsletter and more.

Bernstein's Dictionary of Bankruptcy Terminology

23 May 2002. The Bernstein Law Firm offers this dictionary of bankruptcy terms. Arranged alphabetically, each entry provides a brief definition with hyperlinks to related terms.

Canadian Bankruptcy Statistics

23 May 2002. The database contains ten years of data on Canadian consumer and business bankruptcies.

CaseDocket.com

9 July 2001. This new site by the owners of Bankrupt.com offers a free email list service for distributing court documents pertaining to specific litigation, in particular, bankruptcy litigation. Parties to the litigation may set up an account (free) to distribute while any interested party may subscribe. The site also creates an archive of distributed documents. It intends to charge for downloading archived documents at some future time. Currently, there is not much here, but developments could be interesting to watch.

Chapter 11 Database

23 March 2004. Nationwide Research and Consulting, Inc. provides a database of information about Chapter 11 bankruptcies. It covers 1998 to present. You can search or browse the database by company name. The information provided includes company name, month/year filed and state of filing. Be aware: search terms retrieve matches only on the first word in the company name. In other words, the query, transportation, finds Transportation Components, Inc. but not ANR Advance Transportation Company.

Commercial Law League of America

This creditors' rights organization offers information about new federal legislation, rules and regulations, trustees, new U.S. Supreme Court decisions, and more.

Enron and Worldcom Bankruptcy Documents

15 August 2002. Debtors, with the authorization of the Bankruptcy Court, make PDF images of their court filings available for free via this e-Law, LLC Web site.

Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure

22 December 1999. Cornell Legal Information Institute offers these rules as a searchable folio infobase.

FreeLunch.com

1 September 2000. Economy.com, "provider of economic, financial, and industry research" for investors, offers this database of economic and financial statistics. Users must register to retrieve data, but more than 1 million data series are available for downloading, or display, free of charge.

Some of data includes the House Price Index, new non-residential construction, bankruptcies, imports, exports, consumer loans, bank balance sheets, interest rates, unemployment, and more.

Global Insolvency Law Database

23 May 2002. Click "enter," which appears in the lower right-hand corner of the page to begin. The World Bank and various organizations team to provide this database of articles and other materials in the area of insolvency and debtor creditor systems. Select a country to find an overview of the law, and when available, statistics, statutes, rules, forms, and more. The database is currently in development.

Jones Day Publications

14 August 2002. The law firm Jones Day provides a database of its publications covering many legal topics, including antitrust, bankruptcy and business restructuring, energy, environment, health care, securities, technology, and more. Search by keyword, or select a publication you want to review (e.g., Jones Day Memoranda) and check the "current" box to receive a list of newer items.

KnowX

22 December 1999. Trademarked by Information America, Inc., an affiliate of West Group, KnowX offers information about bankruptcies as well as other public data like real estate records, incorporations and limited partnerships, state and county level recording office filings (DBAs, fictitious names, trademarks), professional licenses, sales tax permits, stock ownership, judgments, liens, death records, and more.

Law about Bankruptcy

23 May 2002. Cornell's Legal Information Institute offers an overview of bankruptcy law, including key points of information for researchers, major federal laws, and major resources.

National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees

This site offers information about bankruptcy property for sale and upcoming bankruptcy sales. Information about assets sales is free. Parts of the site require membership.

Nationwide Bankruptcy Index

5 November 2001. Revised 31 January 2002. Merlin Information Services offers an index of bankruptcy filings data for all states from January 1992 to present. Query the database by company or personal name, or by social security number, to discover the existence of a bankruptcy filing. During early 2002, the site restricted access to paying customers.

New Bankruptcy Law

9 November 2005. FindLaw provides information on The Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005, which took effect on 17 October 2005. Find a checklist of key changes in the law, an overview of major changes, basic information about bankruptcy generally, an overview of alternatives to filing bankruptcy, and more.

Public Bankruptcy Data

19 April 2004. The Trumbull Group enables finding case information, documents, claims and related debtors for bankruptcies for which it serves as claims agent. Select from a pull-down menu of available bankruptcies. You can narrow the search for information by creditor name, claim number or other features. Case information includes the name of the debtor, name and phone number of the analyst, assigned judge, filing date, debtor's attorneys, U.S. trustee, court and claims agent.

United States Bankruptcy Courts

9 November 2005. The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts provides an overview of federal bankruptcy law, bankruptcy forms, statistics on bankruptcy filings and fees. Currently, this section of the site also offers information on the new bankruptcy law. Find the text of the law, additional resources and information about filing fees.
